Two Seminars, One Conviction — Building Leaders Who Deliver
March 2026 · SAI Japanese Management Center of Excellence
We are pleased to share a brief account of two recent learning sessions delivered by SAI JMCoE — each addressing a distinct but deeply connected dimension of leadership and project performance in the infrastructure and construction sector.
Seminar 1 — Strategic Essentials for Infrastructure Project Leaders On-site · 28 February 2026 · ~30 participants
This on-site programme brought together approximately 30 senior professionals for a focused, full-day engagement on strategic thinking tailored to the unique complexities of infrastructure leadership. Participants explored frameworks for decision-making at the intersection of project scale, stakeholder complexity, and organisational accountability — drawing on Japanese management philosophy to anchor discussions in clarity, discipline, and long-term value creation. The intimate cohort size enabled deep, facilitated dialogue that connected theory to participants' live project realities.
Seminar 2 — Value Engineering Essentials for Project Excellence Online · 20 March 2026 · 166 middle managers
The second session was delivered as an online programme to a significantly larger audience — 166 middle managers drawn from across project, technical, and site functions. The session introduced the fundamentals of Value Engineering as a structured methodology to maximise project value while minimising unnecessary cost and effort — without compromising on quality, safety, or scope. Participants were guided through the function analysis approach and its practical application to infrastructure projects, reinforcing the mindset that every rupee of project investment must be purposeful. The scale and diversity of this cohort reflected the wide relevance of VE principles across project roles and disciplines.
196 total participants across both programmes, delivered in two formats — on-site and online.
Taken together, these two programmes reflect SAI JMCoE's commitment to building leadership capacity at every level of the project hierarchy — from the strategic decisions made in boardrooms to the execution discipline exercised on the ground. Whether it is a senior leader navigating the complexity of large infrastructure programmes or a middle manager seeking to eliminate waste and unlock hidden project value, our programmes are designed to deliver insight that is immediately applicable.
We thank all participants and partner organisations for their engagement and trust. SAI JMCoE, recognised by AOTS Japan and supported by METI, Government of Japan, continues to advance Japanese management excellence in the Indian industry context.
